The X-type diesel didn't make the BMW 3-series team lose sleep, but I suspect that more than just BMW took notice when Jaguar announced the all-new twin turbo diesel engine fitted to the S-type tested here. The Ford-sourced 2-litre unit fitted to the X-type is a financially driven, but necessary evil. The engine in the S-type holds more promise.

The module gets its usual start/stop requests from the (R)CCM. Only operates at certain temperatures, voltage above 10.25V and so on. If the (FBH / Wbeasto) module is in lock-out, for example, changing the RCCM is pointless. (The RCCM is a fully computerised module, as with almost all on modern cars like the S-Type.) Y.

Jaguar is undoubtly more agile, reaching 100km/h in 2.5 seconds less than its competitor. In addition to that it accelerates all the way to 230 kilometers per hour, 37km/h more than the other car. When it comes to fuel economy the winner has to be Rover 75, averaging around 5.8 liters of fuel per 100 kilometers (49 mpg), in combined cycle.

2006 s type diesel. Was driving normally. Then it cut out & won't restart. It went into a garage (of unknown skill level) who pulled the injectors and ran a compression test. He was told that there was no compression on no. 1. He wasn't that impressed with their service so he pulled the car out to a mate's garage for further investigation.

Hi All, The DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) warning light has just come on. The manual says, "The vehicle must then be driven for at least 20 minutes at a speed of more than 48 km/h (30 mph)". That seems a bit excessive. Is there any other (quicker) way to regenerate the DPF? Thanks, Nick

Recently, I got rid of my X-type 2.2D saloon. I look into S-type 2.7 diesel, it wasn't easy to find manual version of that car. I have tested the auto, it seems OK for me, but I felt prefer the manual if I can find one. The salesman said the auto is more popular on the S-type diesel.

Assuming you have not got a manual I will give you a précis of what it says: AUX HEATER: DIESEL ONLY. This aids in warming the engine and the car interior. It is integrated int the cooling system and is automatically switched on or off depending on the coolant and the ambient temperatures while the engine is running.
