Remove the oil level plug (2). (A) If there is a stream of oil then reducing to a sequence of drips: Refit the oil level plug (2). (B) If there is a sequence of drips or nothing: Refit the oil level plug (2). Stop the engine. Add 0.5 additional litres of oil in the gearbox. Repeat the top-up procedure. N.B.:

I have a 3.5yr old Grand C4 Picasso 1.6HDi VTR+ and I got the same problem morning - 'Gearbox Fault' error message and Service alert light. I was driving smoothly and suddenly the gear shifted on its own from A4 to Neutral! I have now parked by the roadside and I have called my independent Citroen speacialist.

Hey all, I'm new here but have owned Citroen and / or Peugeot cars most of my driving life. I purchased a 2009 C4 Grand Picasso VTR+ 1.6 HDI with a 6 speed semi-automatic gearbox (VIN VF7*****[VIN obfuscated, can be read by forum staff]) in March of this year. Lovely car, very clean for the year.
I have recently replaced the high pressure hose that feeds the EGS gearbox actuator fluid from the reservoir as it was leaking on my 2008 C4 Grand Picasso 2.0 HDI and previously wouldn't select gear at all. This was definitely the fault as I could see the source of the leak and the reservoir was pretty much empty.
