Any class has at least good combinations in terms of race. Some classes like Sylvari don't actually entail any specific class being the best combo though, so I think Mesmer and Thief are definitely a stretch and moreso to fulfil the criteria of the categorisation than being lore-accurate.
Started doing wvw a couple of weeks ago and tried several builds from warrior to guardian, revenant, mesmer and i think elementalist. And i have to say elementalist is my absolute favourite. 1. The latest entry in the specialization segment of Guild Wars 2, the Willbenders allow this class to equip off-hand swords, making them more mobile. Virtues in this case are focused more on movement and fire. Warrior Class. Warriors are more like soldiers in Guild Wars 2, focusing more on defending and attacking alongside each other.
Thief has very high mobility in general, but not necessarily on d/d. It's probably the only class that can fully utilize d/d build and it's somewhat good in end game pve, but there's also much better choices so it's not very popular build. Most of pvp/wvw builds use only one dagger, main or off hand, depending on build.

Personally I did Warrior first (main) and am doing Reaper (alt) now, with plans to do Dragonhunter (alt) later for map completion/achievements. They're all powerful bursty classes that offer very decent survivability through high HP, mobility, defensive traits/skills, or a combination of all of them. 1. Sockular.
There are 3 primary caster classes in GW2. the Elementalist, the Mesmer, and the Necromancer. Elementalist is perhaps the most difficult of the three to play since it involves a fair amount of attunement swapping and can quite easily feel like you are trying to play a piano rather than a game… however, the class Necromancer, mainly Scourge. Pros: The best survivability due to huge amount of barriers. Easy to play, no skill rotation. You can boost your passive healing by using runes of tormenting. Cons: Slow, no access to boons. 2. Thief (Daredevil or Deadeye, depends on situation). Pros: The best passive heal in game. It is build. And Warrior has in-sane CC. Just use maces on backbar. But yes, not the best spec to solo bounties. I'd use axe for front bar on ranger instead of dagger. Stacks might too. And Maul - Hilt Bash - Maul - Worldy Impact is pretty impressive damage. All aside, Reaper is pretty much the best for soloing open world group mobs. What I mean by engaging and snappy gameplay from start to finish is a class that has a lot of variety in combat, something with quick attacks, that can be creative with the gameplay, but also packs a good punch, and generally stays that way throughout all elite specs (at least 2 of 3) so I can best enjoy all expansion content in one go. Posted August 22, 2018. Making gold in the game isnt bound to specific classes. You do maps like SW or Istan (Istan is easier/more profitable and you dont need a low level char to open bags). The best crafts to level up is the ones your character is able to make use of, in this case it would be artificer and tailor. Raid Builds. Raid and Strike Mission builds for GW2. A wide variety of recommended/meta, great and viable builds and guides for all classes in Guild Wars 2. Section builds are up to date for the November 28, 2023 patch. For 1 by 1 situations, I'd recommend Power Mesmer (greatsword / Sw/Sw). GS #2 and GS#4 delete normal mobs and you can always throw in a shatter or damage mantra. Swords get you another ranged illusion and skill to port to the mob for melee. Power deadeye can work, as can Soulbeast with LB.
re-rezzed. • 2 yr. ago. WvW roaming builds are mostly self sufficient but look for combinations that complement eachother (for example one spec that provides stealth & cc and the other boons & cleanses) For pvp it's the same principle, but a roamer + sidenoder have the most carry potential.
GW2. Best Open World Build. Power Dragonhunter. Guardian PvE. The Dragonhunter is a fragile but extremely high damage guardian build with options for ranged damage with the Longbow and Traps to protect it while using the Greatsword in melee. Believe it or not, the most important skill to this build is the Healing skill, Litany of Wrath.

Spam 4x headshot, reflexive strike, Steal (daze, ini return and stealth), hook strike, headshot, Palm strike, impact strike and tripwire.
Guild Wars 2 Class and Specialization Tier Lists for PvP, PvE and WvW. Ordering within each tier is random and is not set in stone due to the nature of how Tier Lists work.

The Sylvari in Ghosts of Ascalon was a Necromancer. She doesn't understand the taboos of why using your dead allies as cannon fodder is a bad thing. It works beautifully. Asura on the other hand, are noted for their cleverness and inventions --- they don't come across as a race that would be fond of necromancers.

[Guide] One of the most common questions new players ask for help picking out a class to play. Below I've summarized the selling points of all the classes, as well as detailing their Elite Specializations which are class variants you can unlock in each of the game's expansions. Before we get going I'd just like to go over point out a few things:
